Regular Season Round 13: Vytis - Taurages 77-82

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Vytis (9-4) against twelfth ranked Taurages (5-8) on Friday night. Host Vytis was defeated by Taurages in a tough game in Sakiai 77-82. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (201-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) nailed 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and point guard Mindaugas Stasys (180-86) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Marijus Uzupis (198-93) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) added 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) respectively for Vytis in the defeat. Vytis' coach Erikas Kuciauskas tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Taurages moved-up to eleventh place. Vytis lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the second position with four games lost. They share it with Suduva-Mantinga. Taurages will play against league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Vytis will play on the road against Jonava and hopes to get back on the winning track.
