Regular Season Round 10: Westerstede - Stade 97-91

There was an upset when higher ranked Stade (5-5) lost on the road to tenth ranked Westerstede (5-6) 97-91 on Saturday. Strangely Stade outrebounded Westerstede 42-29 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a very good performance for point guard Fritz Hemschemeier (182-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Marcello Schroeder (195-87) contributed with 32 points for the winners. Swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) replied with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Finn Huebner (188-93) added 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Stade. Five Westerstede and four Stade players scored in double figures. Westerstede moved-up to ninth place in North. Loser Stade dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Westerstede will face higher ranked Neustadt TSV (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Stade will play against Goetting.ASC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
