Fourteenth-ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (2-5) were very close to win a game against fourth ranked Giessen 46ers (6-2) on Saturday. Giessen 46ers managed to secure only one-point victory 91-90. However their fans expected much easier game. Giessen 46ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by American center John Bryant (211-87, college: Santa Clara) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists and the other American import point guard Max Landis (188-93, college: PFW) supported him with 16 points. Even 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Jason Clark (188-90, college: Georgetown) did not help to save the game for Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Forward Richard Freudenberg (204-98, college: St.John's) added 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Giessen 46ers moved-up to third place. Loser Deutsche Bank Skyliners keep the fourteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Ratiopharm and Wuerzburg. Giessen 46ers will meet league's leader Bayern Muenchen on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play against Braunschweig (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
