Regular Season Round 6: Akhisar Bld - Karesi Spor 76-78

The most exciting game of round 6 in the TBL took place in Akhisar. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Akhisar Bld (3-3) to top-ranked Karesi Spor (6-0) 78-76 on Saturday evening. Karesi Spor made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Akhisar Bld helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. The other American import point guard Carlos Medlock (183-87, college: E.Michigan) chipped in 19 points and 5 assists. Four Karesi Spor players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Curtis Kelly (208-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and guard Omer Sancakli (195-92) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Karesi Spor have an impressive six-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Bursaspor and OGM Orman. Akhisar Bld at the other side keeps the sixth place with three games lost. They share the position with Yeni Mamak and Manisa. Karesi Spor is looking forward to face Final Spor (#10) in Bursa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Akhisar Bld will play on the road against Sigortam.net ITU (#14) in Istanbul and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
