Regular Season Round 9: Rhoendorf - FC Bayern II 70-78

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-7) was defeated at home by fifth ranked FC Bayern II (6-3) 78-70 on Saturday. FC Bayern II made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. FC Bayern II had a 32-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Nelson Weidemann (190-99) who scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Viktor Frankl-Maus (186-93) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. FC Bayern II's coach Demond Greene used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Kwan Waller (183-89, college: Ky Wesleyan, agency: Slash Sports) added 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for FC Bayern II. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with Elchingen and Fraport SKY II. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf keeps the tenth position with seven games lost. FC Bayern II will face Loewen (#8) in Erfurt in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dragons Rhoendorf will play on the road against OrangeAcademy in Ulm and hope to win that game.
