Regular Season Round 8: EWE Baskets - Vechta 81-62

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked EWE Baskets (5-2) rolled over 7th ranked SC Rasta Vechta (4-4) in Oldenburg 81-62 on Saturday. EWE Baskets made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 SC Rasta Vechta turnovers. American power forward Nathan Boothe (206-94, college: Toledo) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. Austrian-Slovenian center Rasid Mahalbasic (210-90, agency: BeoBasket) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four EWE Baskets players scored in double figures. American guard TJ Bray (196-92, college: Princeton) replied with 14 points and 6 assists and naturalized Swiss forward Michael Kessens (206-91, college: FIU, agency: Court Side) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for SC Rasta Vechta. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. EWE Baskets moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brose Bask. Newly promoted SC Rasta Vechta dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. EWE Baskets will face Crailsheim Merlins (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. SC Rasta Vechta will play against Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#13) and hope to win that game.
