Regular Season Round 9: ETB Wohnbau - Bochum 66-73

There was no surprise in Essen where 12th ranked ETB Wohnbau (2-7) was defeated by third ranked SparkassenStars (6-3) 73-66 on Saturday. SparkassenStars outrebounded ETB Wohnbau 36-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Montrael Scott (190-93, college: Prairie View A&M) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. Center Florian Wendeler (205-93) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. SparkassenStars' coach Gary Johnson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Andre Calvin (201-85, college: Drake) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds and British forward Joseph Hart (194-93) added 15 points respectively. SparkassenStars maintains third place in North with 6-3 record behind leader Iserlohn. Loser ETB Wohnbau keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. SparkassenStars will face Itzehoe (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. ETB Wohnbau will play against SSV Lok Bernau and hope to win that game.
