Regular Season Round 6: Petkim - Sigortam.net ITU 87-68

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Socar Petkim (2-4) smashed at home 10th ranked Sigortam.net ITU (2-4) 87-68 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-91, college: SMU) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: Point Loma) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Cenk Akyol (198-87, agency: BeoBasket) who recorded 19 points and Berkay Sinirlioglu (192-94) added 16 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Socar Petkim moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Sigortam.net ITU. Socar Petkim will face higher ranked Yeni Mamak (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
