Regular Season Round 8: Pitesti - Oradea 81-101

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Oradea and 5th ranked Pitesti had identical 3-3 record. But Pitesti was not able to use a home court advantage and was outscored by the opponent from Oradea 101-81 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Pitesti was better in second period 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Pitesti's players. American guard Kris Richard (196-89, college: Tulane) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The other American import swingman Marcus Ginyard (195-87, college: N.Carolina, agency: HMS) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Richard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Oradea's coach Cristian Achim used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St.) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and Ukrainian power forward Maxym Korniyenko (205-87) added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Pitesti. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 4-3 record. Loser Pitesti dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
