Regular Season Round 10: Mainz - Mannheim 73-83

There was a small surprise when twelfth ranked Mannheim (3-6) beat on the road 10th ranked Mainz (3-6) 83-73 on Saturday. Mainz was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for swingman Alexander Kuhn (198-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Marcel Maringer contributed with 26 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) for the winners. Naturalized American point guard Anish Sharda (188-82, college: St.Mary's, KS) replied with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and American point guard Kewan Beebe (183-93, college: Geneseo St.) added 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Mainz. Four Mainz players scored in double figures. Mainz's coach Christian Zander let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mannheim moved-up to eighth place in South-West, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Mainz. Mannheim will face Fellbach (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
