No shocking result in a game when third ranked Vytis (9-4) defeated on the road 11th ranked Jonava (5-9) 89-80 on Saturday. Vytis looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Jonava's players. Jonava was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Paulius Beliavicius (196-88) who scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Center Aurelijus Pukelis (205-94) chipped in 27 points and 8 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Vytis' coach Erikas Kuciauskas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and American guard Troy Franklin (183-89, college: Coppin St.) added 19 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Vytis and four Jonava players scored in double figures. Vytis moved-up to second place, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga. Jonava lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. Vytis will face Gargzdu (#10) in Gargzdai in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
