Regular Season Round 7: Eagles BA - Piraten Hamburg 52-73

The biggest surprise of round 7 in NBBL was guest Piraten's (3-3) easy road victory over 6th ranked Eagles BA (2-4) 73-52 on Saturday evening. Piraten forced 19 Eagles BA turnovers and outrebounded them 40-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Piraten made 7 blocks. Finnish Leevi Erkkilae (194-0) fired 20 points for the winners. Aleksandar Postic (195-0) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Tim Lang (190-0) produced 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and center Ole Friedrichs (203-0) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Piraten have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place in Group 1, which they share with Young Dragons and Rostock Seawolves. Eagles BA at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Piraten is looking forward to face Rostock Seawolves (#4) at home in the next round. Eagles BA will play against the league's leader AB Baskets and is hoping to win this game.
