Regular Season Round 7: Spartak Pleven - Akademik PL 68-85

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Spartak Pleven (2-4) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Academik Plovdiv (2-4) 85-68 on Saturday. Academik Plovdiv outrebounded Spartak Pleven 38-24 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Vasil Bachev (195-92, college: Cuesta JC) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. Nigerian-Italian center Peter Olisemeka (204-91) helped adding 16 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Tsvetoslav Ostrev (175-86) responded with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Academik Plovdiv moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Spartak Pleven and Academic Sofia. Spartak Pleven lost their third game in a row. Academik Plovdiv will meet at home Yambol (#8) in the next round. Spartak Pleven will play against the league's second-placed Rilski in Samokov and hope to secure a win.
