Everything went according to plan when second ranked Speyer (8-1) outplayed on the road 9th ranked Kaiserslautern (3-6) 84-64 on Sunday. Speyer dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kaiserslautern's 26. They outrebounded Kaiserslautern 51-36 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for forward Tim Schwartz (197-87) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. American guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Four Speyer players scored in double figures. American power forward Aaron Ellis (205-87, college: Wichita St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and Hungarian guard Gergely Hosszu (190-86) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Kaiserslautern. Speyer have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of South-West leader, which they share with Koblenz. Loser Kaiserslautern dropped to the eighth place with six games lost. Speyer will face Mainz (#12) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Kaiserslautern will play against Giessen Pointers (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
