Regular Season Round 8: Braila - Constanta 24-104

The game between closely ranked teams ended with third ranked Constanta's (2-4) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Braila (0-5) 104-24 on Sunday. The game without a history. Constanta led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Braila to just 4 points in first quarter and to 9 points in first half. Constanta held Braila to an opponent 17.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 54.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Constanta forced 22 Braila turnovers and outrebounded them 59-25 including a 42-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Braila's players. American guard Brandon Lockhart (185-90, college: Drury) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import Deondre Ray (196, college: Cameron) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Constanta players scored in double figures. Guard Florin Voiculet replied with 5 points and 6 rebounds and Dragos Grozea (-1) added 4 points in the effort for Braila. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Constanta maintains third position with 2-4 record having six points less than leader Voluntari, which they share with Timisoara. Braila at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Constanta will have a break next round. Braila will play on the road against the league's second-placed Medias (#2) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
