Regular Season Round 9: Gruenberg - Mainz 76-54

Bottom-ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (0-9) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their ninth consecutive match to fourth ranked Baskets Grunberg (6-3) 76-54 on Sunday evening. Baskets Grunberg dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to ASC Theresianum Mainz's 30. Baskets Grunberg forced 22 ASC Theresianum Mainz turnovers and outrebounded them 64-30 including a 24-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Baskets Grunberg made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American guard Amy Patton (178-91, college: N.Arizona) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Swingman Isabell Meinhart (178-94) chipped in 15 points. Baskets Grunberg's coach Aleksandra Heuser felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Pearl Henriquez (165, college: Guilford Tech CC) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Alina Doetsch (170-99) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Baskets Grunberg. They maintain fourth place in North with 6-3 record. ASC Theresianum Mainz lost their ninth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with nine games lost. Baskets Grunberg will meet Homburger TG (#5) on the road in the next round. ASC Theresianum Mainz will have a break next round.
