Regular Season Round 11: Neptunas - Rytas 78-93

Top ranked Neptunas (9-2) recorded its second loss in Klaipeda. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Rytas (8-2) 93-78. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Neptunas. It looked good early as Neptunas took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Rytas had a 23-17 second period charge getting the lead and Neptunas was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-93. Rytas shot 65.4 percent from the field. They outrebounded Neptunas 32-21 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rytas shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. International Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American DJ Seeley (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) contributed with 13 points and 9 assists for the winners. American guard Kyle Weaver (198-86, college: Washington St., agency: Octagon Europe) answered with 18 points and 5 assists and the other American import point guard Lorenzo Williams (187-84, college: Rice) added 10 points in the effort for Neptunas. Five Rytas and four Neptunas players scored in double figures. Neptunas' coach Kazys Maksvytis rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rytas maintains third place with 8-2 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. Rytas will play against Nevezis (#9) in Kedainiai in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Neptunas will play on the road against Lietkabelis (#4) in Panevezys and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
