Regular Season Round 8: EBAA - Vaerlose 81-63

Date: November 18, 2018
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked EBAA as it allowed them to take a leadership position. EBAA defeated 3rd ranked Vaerlose in Aarhus 81-63. The game was mostly controlled by EBAA. Vaerlose managed to win fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vaerlose to just 7 points in first quarter. EBAA forced 21 Vaerlose turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Marius Kirkholt (183-97) who scored 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals. Forward Simon Neidhardt (196-95, college: W.Georgia) chipped in 14 points. American forward Richard Granberry (203-93, college: Virginia St.) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and Norwegian swingman Espen Fjaerestad (193-94, college: Wisc.-Parkside) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Vaerlose at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the third place with seven games lost. Vaerlose will play next round against Randers trying to get back on the winning streak. EBAA will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
