Important game to mention about took place in Weissenfels. Seventh ranked Sixers (3-3) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 6th ranked Akademie (2-4) 71-68 on Sunday evening. Sixers dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Akademie's 20. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Beninese Ralph Hounnou (190-2) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Sven Papenfuss (200-0) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Sixers players scored in double figures. Point guard Nils Leonhardt (195-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and center Ben Bredenbroecker (204-2) added 11 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Akademie. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Sixers moved-up to third place in Group 3, which they share with Science City Jena. Akademie at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Sixers will play against Junior Loewen (#7) in Braunschweig in the next round. Akademie will play on the road against Falcons in Nuernberg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
