Regular Season Round 11: Nevezis - Dzukija 68-74

There was no surprise in Kedainiai where 9th ranked Nevezis (2-9) was defeated by sixth ranked Dzukija (5-6) 74-68 on Sunday. Nevezis trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 24-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 68-74 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Nevezis 41-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Arturas Jomantas (200-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 7 points, 16 rebounds and 9 assists. American point guard Ken Brown (180-89, college: Philander Smith, agency: Octagon Europe) helped adding 20 points and 4 assists. Dzukija's coach Andrej Urlep used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Aidas Einikis (195-96) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Dzukija moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Juventus. Nevezis lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Dzukija will meet at home Juventus (#5) in the next round. Nevezis will play against Rytas (#3) in Vilnius and hope to secure a win.
