Regular Season Round 9: Khimik - Politekhnik 94-82

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Khimik as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Khimik defeated 8th ranked Politekhnik in Yuzhny 94-82. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-82. The best player for the winners was American forward Christian Jones (201-93, college: UNLV, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). U.S. Virgin Islands guard Deon Edwin (190-92, college: Kent St., agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Delwan Graham (203-88, college: Jacksonville) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard TJ Cromer (190-95, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 27 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Khimik (8-3) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Politekhnik at the other side stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Politekhnik will play next round against strong Kyiv Basket trying to get back on the winning streak. Khimik will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Zaporizhye in Zaporozhye.
