Regular Season Round 6: Ilirija - Zlatorog 69-80

Bottom-ranked Ilirija (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Zlatorog (4-2) 80-69. The game was mostly controlled by Zlatorog. Ilirija was better in second period 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ilirija was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Emani Gant (203-94, college: Texas St.) notched 19 points to lead the effort and point guard Nejc Baric (183-97, agency: PEPI SPORT) supported him with 11 points and 9 assists. Four Zlatorog players scored in double figures. Even 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists by American point guard Joshua Heath (180-94, college: Georgia Tech) did not help to save the game for Ilirija. Forward Aljaz Stopar (195-97) added 15 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Zlatorog have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Ilirija at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Zlatorog will play against league's leader P.Olimpija in Ljubljana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ilirija will play on the road against Sentjur (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
