Focsani (#4) was upset in Miercurea Ciuc by seventh ranked Miercurea Ciuc 77-62. It looked good early as Focsani took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Miercurea Ciuc took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 15 points. Miercurea Ciuc shot 63.0 percent from the field. Slovenian point guard Matevz Magusar (185-89) nailed 31 points for the winning side and Serbian forward Goran Ostojic (206-91) accounted for 22 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Kyle Kilgore (201, college: Dakota St.) came up with 20 points and the other American import point guard Cameron Cornelius (183-92, college: Missouri So.) added 11 points respectively for Focsani in the defeat. Miercurea Ciuc (4-5) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Rapid. Focsani at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Miercurea Ciuc will play against higher ranked Targu Jiu (#5) in Rovinari in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Focsani will play at home against Rapid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
