Regular Season Round 10: Alexandria - Targu Secuiesc 61-50

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Alexandria (2-6) defeated at home 5th ranked Targu Secuiesc (3-5) 61-50 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Alexandria. Targu Secuiesc was better in second period 19-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Targu Secuiesc to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Alexandria forced 26 Targu Secuiesc turnovers. Point guard Mihaela Mihai (169-90) scored 18 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Catalina Craciunescu chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Alexandria's coach Madalin Piperea used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American forward Kayla Mobley (180-90, college: Clayton St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Iringo Debreczi (183-96) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Alexandria maintains seventh position in Nationala with 2-6 record. Newly promoted Targu Secuiesc keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Alexandria will face higher ranked Rapid Bucuresti (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Targu Secuiesc will play against the league's second-placed Sirius TgM having rather not much hope for a victory.
