Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked SC Rasta Vechta (5-4) outscored at home 13th ranked Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (3-6) 85-64 on Friday. They outrebounded Eisbaeren Bremerhaven 38-23 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. SC Rasta Vechta looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman Austin Hollins (195-91, college: Minnesota) who scored 24 points. Australian forward Venkatesha Jois (202-93, college: E.Washington) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Darnell Jackson (206-85, college: Kansas) who recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Jordan Brangers (188-95, college: South Plains JC) added 19 points respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. SC Rasta Vechta moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Telekom Bsk. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fourteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. SC Rasta Vechta will meet higher ranked Giessen 46ers (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Eisbaeren Bremerhaven will play against s Oliver Baskets (#16) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
