Regular Season Round 7: Yeni Mamak - Petkim 78-72

Very expected game when 12th ranked Socar Petkim (2-5) lost on the road to seventh ranked Yeni Mamak (4-3) 78-72 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Socar Petkim outrebounded Yeni Mamak 40-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for Erkan Yilmaz (198-86) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Erick Neal (178-95, college: Texas Arlington) contributed with 13 points and 7 assists for the winners. Neal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-91, college: SMU) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Canadian guard Marek Klassen (185-92, college: Point Loma) added 15 points in the effort for Socar Petkim. Socar Petkim's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Yeni Mamak moved-up to sixth place. Loser Socar Petkim dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Yeni Mamak will face Akhisar Bld (#10) on the road in the next round. Socar Petkim will play against Yalova Bld and hope to win that game.
