Regular Season Round 11: Schwabing - Herzogenaurach 83-78

Date: November 24, 2018
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Schwabing and 7th ranked Herzogenaurach had identical 5-4 record. This time Schwabing used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Herzogenaurach 83-78 on Saturday night. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Herzogenaurach was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American power forward Nick Freer (198-85, college: Grand Valley St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Point guard Joshua Obiesie (198-0) helped adding 21 points. Schwabing's coach Robert Scheinberg used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Patrick Horstmann (201-87, college: Keiser) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Robert Merz (193-0) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Schwabing and five Herzogenaurach players scored in double figures. Schwabing maintains third place in South-East with 6-4 record having just three points less than leader Leitershofen, which they share with TSV Troester and Treuchtlingen. Loser Herzogenaurach dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Schwabing will face league's second-placed Oberhaching in Deisenhofen in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Herzogenaurach will play at home against Ansbach (#9) and hope to win that game.
