There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Vilsbiburg (5-5) won against at home higher ranked Ansbach (5-5) 90-85 on Saturday. Vilsbiburg forced 21 Ansbach turnovers. It was a great evening for Italian-Slovenian center Davor Barovic (211-90) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Josef Leierseder (184-96) helped adding 22 points. Vilsbiburg's coach Marc Vilas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Walter Simon (202-89, college: Cumberland) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Steven Ward (200-87, college: Three Rivers CC) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Vilsbiburg moved-up to sixth place in South-East, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Ansbach. Vilsbiburg will face Rosenheim (#12) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
