Regular Season Round 8: Lions - Rocks 93-85

Second defeat of league's leader Rocks (6-2) against sixth ranked Lions (4-4) 93-85 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Rocks. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rocks won third quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Rocks outrebounded Lions 44-27 including 22 on the offensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Rocks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Spanish forward Javier Medori (202-93) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Spanish guard Ander Arruti (191-90) contributed with 22 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Lions players scored in double figures. Canadian center Corey Hallett (210-84, college: Monmouth) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American power forward Gary Ware (205-83, college: Purdue, agency: Interperformances) added 21 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Rocks. Lions moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Rocks at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Blackbirds who have the same record. Rocks will play next round against Flames trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Lions will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Nord Dragonz in Eisenstadt.
