Regular Season Round 11: HAKRO Merlins II - Saarlouis/Dillingen 104-73

There was a surprise result in Crailsheim where fourteenth ranked HAKRO Merlins II (3-7) outleveled 4th placed Saarlouis/Dillingen (6-4) 104-73 on Saturday. HAKRO Merlins II dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Saarlouis/Dillingen's 40. HAKRO Merlins II had a 35-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Saarlouis/Dillingen's players. It was a great evening for American forward Arsenio Arrington (206-96, college: Aquinas Coll.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (on 14-of-16 shooting from the field). British guard Liam Carpenter (187-96) helped adding 23 points. HAKRO Merlins II had such big advantage that coach Kai Buchmann felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 10 players saving starting five for next games. Center Alexander Diederich (204-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Ricky Easterling (189-83, college: Bridgewater) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Saarlouis/Dillingen players scored in double figures. HAKRO Merlins II moved-up to eleventh place in South-West, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Saarlouis/Dillingen keeps the fourth position with four games lost. HAKRO Merlins II will face higher ranked Tuebingen II (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Saarlouis/Dillingen will play against Kronberg and hope to win that game.
