Regular Season Round 11: Recklinghausen - Hagen BG 86-65

There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Recklinghausen (6-4) outleveled at home 5th ranked Hagen BG (6-4) 86-65 on Saturday. They outrebounded Hagen BG 47-36 including a 39-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Recklinghausen looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Chris Longoria (193-92, college: Valdosta St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 5 assists. British center Theo Turner (213-93, college: Barry) helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. Longoria is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Recklinghausen players scored in double figures. American forward Salathiel Ligons (201-84) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian guard Semir Albinovic (197-91) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Recklinghausen moved-up to fifth place in West, which they share with Grevenbroich and Hagen BG. Recklinghausen will face Dortmund (#8) at home in the next round. Hagen BG will play against Kamp-Lintfort and hope to win that game.
