Regular Season Round 8: Besiktas - Galatasaray 72-74

A very close game took place in Istanbul between Galatasaray and Besiktas. Thirteenth ranked Galatasaray (3-4) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked Besiktas (4-4). Galatasaray managed to escape with a 2-point win 74-72 on Sunday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nigel Hayes (203-94, college: Wisconsin) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import Aaron Harrison (198-94, college: Kentucky) who added 19 points during the contest. Croatian power forward Ivan Buva (208-91) responded with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and German forward Robin Benzing (208-89) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Four Besiktas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Galatasaray moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Darussafaka and Sakarya BSB. Loser Besiktas dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Galatasaray's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Darussafaka.
