Leading Blackbirds (6-2) recorded its second loss in Vienna. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Flames (4-4) 78-60. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Blackbirds. The game without a history. Flames led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Blackbirds to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Argentinian forward Fabricio Vay (207-86, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Bosnian-Slovenian center Fuad Memcic (209-82, agency: Promotex) who added 12 points during the contest. International forward Sebastian Koch (202-88) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Croatian center Marko Moric (205-81) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Flames moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Blackbirds at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Flames will play against league's second-placed Rocks in Mattersburg in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Blackbirds will play at home against Deutsch-Wagram and hope to get back on the winning track.
