Proliga top team - Barreirense (7-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Estoril Basket (0-7) in Barreiro 87-60. They outrebounded Estoril Basket 38-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Barreirense made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Khaleal McCormick (198-94, college: Tiffin) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Power forward Andre Mendes (198-96) helped adding 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side swingman Americo Matos (-95) responded with 10 points and power forward Paulo Balde (-96) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Barreirense have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Loser Estoril Basket still closes the standings with seven games lost. Barreirense will face Academia (#3) in Lisbona in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
