Regular Season Round 9: Banvit - Gaziantep 99-46

Rather expected game when 5th ranked Gaziantep (3-4) was rolled over on the road by leader Banvit (7-0) 99-46 on Sunday. Banvit dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Gaziantep's 22. Banvit forced 19 Gaziantep turnovers and outrebounded them 56-24 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Alperen Sengun (205-2) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Power forward Hakan Sayili (204-0) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Five Banvit players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Mustafa Akgoz (-0) who recorded 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and Yunus Erenoglu (-0) added 8 points and 5 assists respectively. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Banvit. They maintain second place with 7-0 record behind leader Pinar Karsiyaka. Loser Gaziantep keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Banvit will face Selcuklu (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Gaziantep will play against Darussafaka (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
