Regular Season Round 10: OrangeAcademy - Rhoendorf 74-69

Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked OrangeAcademy (6-4) defeated 11th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-8) in Ulm 74-69 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. OrangeAcademy outrebounded Dragons Rhoendorf 42-29 including a 32-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Quite impressive performance for center Nicolas Bretzel (212-99) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Christoph Philipps (203-98) contributed with 3 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American point guard Kwan Waller (183-89, college: Ky Wesleyan, agency: Slash Sports) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals and Lithuanian center Zygimantas Riauka (205-93, college: Wisc.-Parkside) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Dragons Rhoendorf. Four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. OrangeAcademy have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in South, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Dragons Rhoendorf keeps the eleventh position with eight games lost. OrangeAcademy will face league's second-placed BV Villingen-Schwenningen on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dragons Rhoendorf will play against Coburg (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
