Regular Season Round 7: Zlatorog - P.Olimpija 77-84

The biggest surprise of round 7 in Liga Nova KBM was guest P.Olimpija's (5-2) road victory over Zlatorog (#3) 84-77 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Zlatorog. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Zlatorog was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-16 charge of P.Olimpija, which allowed them to win the game. P.Olimpija outrebounded Zlatorog 41-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Croatian Luka Samanic (209-0) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Ukrainian guard Issuf Sanon (190-99) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. P.Olimpija's coach Zoran Martic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Emani Gant (203-94, college: Texas St.) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Nejc Baric (183-97, agency: PEPI SPORT) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Primorska. Zlatorog at the other side keeps the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Sentjur and Rogaska. P.Olimpija's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Ljubljana to the arena Ilirija.
