Regular Season Round 8: Perkunas - Siauliu 101-93

The game between Top Four teams took place in Kaunas. Third ranked host Perkunas (8-2) defeated one of their biggest challengers Siauliu (7-3) 101-93. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Siauliu won third quarter 32-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Perkunas won last quarter 28-22. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 51.7 percentage. Perkunas looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of power forward Martynas Ziukas (198-1) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 7 rebounds and forward Gabrielius Celka (198-1) who added 19 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Nedas Svirikas (-1) responded with 23 points, 7 assists and 6 steals and forward Edvinas Daunys (202-2) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. Four Perkunas and five Siauliu players scored in double figures. Perkunas have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with V.Knasiaus KM. Siauliu at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Panevezio. Perkunas is looking forward to face league's leader Vilniaus Silputa on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Siauliu will play against the league's second-placed V.Knasiaus KM in Klaipeda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
