There was no surprise when 7th ranked Alexandria (2-7) was defeated on the road by third ranked Rapid Bucuresti (5-4) 61-43 on Saturday. Rapid Bucuresti forced 24 Alexandria turnovers and outrebounded them 48-34 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Raluca Matei (191-97) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. Center Roxana Bejan (187) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Mihaela Mihai (169-90) produced 11 points and 6 rebounds and Mihaela Mazilu (-1) added 11 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Rapid Bucuresti moved-up to second place in Nationala. Loser Alexandria keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. Rapid Bucuresti will face Agronomia (#6) in Bucurest in the next round. Alexandria will play at home against Targu Secuiesc and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
