There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Giessen 46ers II (4-7) won against at home 4th placed FC Bayern II (6-5) 80-68 on Saturday. Giessen 46ers II forced 25 FC Bayern II turnovers. FC Bayern II was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (190-99) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 8 assists and 4 steals. The former international Johannes Lischka (203-87) helped adding 19 points. Bruno Vrcic (197-0) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Nelson Weidemann (190-99) scored 6 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Giessen 46ers II moved-up to ninth place in South, which they share with Coburg. Loser FC Bayern II dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Giessen 46ers II will face higher ranked OrangeAcademy (#6) in Ulm in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. FC Bayern II will play at home against Fraport Skyliners II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
