Regular Season Round 6: Aabyhoj - Amager 67-50

The most important game in the last round took place in Aabyhoj between second ranked Amager (4-2) and fourth ranked Aabyhoj (4-2) on Saturday night. Amager was defeated by Aabyhoj on the road 50-67. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Amager. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-50. Aabyhoj forced 28 Amager turnovers. It was a good game for guard Malene Pedersen (180-1) who led her team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Stephanie Mannemar-Jensen (180-90) contributed with 12 points for the winners. American forward Valerie Driscoll (193-92, college: Quinnipiac) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds and her fellow American import Geraldynn Malama (-96) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Amager. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aabyhoj have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Amager. Aabyhoj is looking forward to face Vaerlose (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Amager will play against SISU (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
