There was no surprise when 9th ranked Izmit (3-4) was defeated at home by third ranked Botas (6-1) 84-71 on Sunday. Botas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Jewell Loyd (178-93, college: Notre Dame) fired 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International point guard Olcay Cakir-Turgut (182-93, agency: 1x1 Sports) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists. Five Botas players scored in double figures. Russian forward Marina Bas (194-85) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and American Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Botas. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Hatay. Newly promoted Izmit keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Botas will face Fenerbahce (#4) in Istanbul in the next round. Izmit will play on the road against Canik Belediye (#6) in Samsun and hope to win that game.
