Regular Season Round 8: Nuernberg Falcons - Wuerzburg Ak. 63-61

The most exciting game of round 8 in the NBBL took place in Nuernberg. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Akademie (3-5) to fifth ranked Falcons (3-3) 63-61 on Sunday evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Falcons made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Matthew Meredith (198-0) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 7 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks and Ben Gahlert (203-0) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Point guard Nils Leonhardt (195-0) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and center Ben Bredenbroecker (204-2) scored 8 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Falcons maintains fifth position in Group 3 with 3-3 record. Akademie lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. Falcons will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Akademie will play at home against NINERS (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
