Regular Season Round 7: Cukurova - Hatay 96-82

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Hatay (6-1) in Mersin. Visitors were defeated by Cukurova (7-0) 96-82. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Hatay. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Cukurova made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Hatay turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 33 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 14 assists. Senegalese-Spanish center Astou Ndour (198-94, agency: ProDep Management) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Cukurova players scored in double figures. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Belgian point guard Hind Ben-Abdelkader (172-95, college: California) added 20 points and 5 assists in the effort for Hatay. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cukurova have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Hatay at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Botas. Cukurova's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Mersin to the arena Mersin BSB.
