No shocking result in a game in Istanbul where fifth ranked Fenerbahce (5-2) smashed 8th ranked Mersin BSB (3-4) 81-56 on Sunday. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin BSB's 36. They outrebounded Mersin BSB 45-20 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fenerbahce looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American center Kiah Stokes (191-93, college: Connecticut) fired 9 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. French-American guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) chipped in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Fenerbahce's coach Valerie Garnier felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Tiffany Mitchell (175-94, college: S.Carolina, agency: LBM Management) produced 14 points and 5 assists (made all of her eight free throws) and Lithuanian power forward Gintare Petronyte (196-89) added 15 points respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fenerbahce. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Loser Mersin BSB dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Fenerbahce will face higher ranked Botas (#3) in Adana in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mersin BSB's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Mersin Cukurova.
