Regular Season Round 9: Darussafaka - Galatasaray 79-84

Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Galatasaray and 9th ranked Darussafaka had identical 3-4 record. But Darussafaka was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Istanbul 84-79 on Tuesday night. Galatasaray forced 19 Darussafaka turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for Greek-American center Zach Auguste (208-93, college: Notre Dame, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. American Aaron Harrison (198-94, college: Kentucky) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Galatasaray players scored in double figures. American Markel Brown (191-92, college: Oklahoma St.) answered with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import forward Jeremy Evans (206-87, college: W.Kentucky) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Darussafaka. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Galatasaray (4-4) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Darussafaka dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Galatasaray will face bottom-ranked Banvit (#15) in Balikesir in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Darussafaka's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Istanbul to the arena Besiktas.
