Regular Season Round 9: Vilniaus Silputa - Perkunas 95-75

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vilniaus. Leader Vilniaus Silputa faced 3rd placed Perkunas. Host Vilniaus Silputa (8-0) smashed guests from Kaunas (7-2) 95-75. The game was mostly controlled by Vilniaus Silputa. Perkunas was better in third quarter 24-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vilniaus Silputa dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Perkunas' 42. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 34 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Perkunas' players. It was a good game for Azuolas Tubelis (202-2) who led his team to a victory with 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks. Adas Simonis (193-1) contributed with 16 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Gabrielius Celka (198-1) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Martynas Ziukas (198-1) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Perkunas. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Vilniaus Silputa. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Perkunas at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Vilniaus Silputa will play against league's second-placed V.Knasiaus KM in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Perkunas' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kaunas Tornado KM.
