Regular Season Round 9: Tornado KM - Silutes SM 96-70

There was a minor upset in Kaunas where 8th ranked Silutes SM (2-6) was crushed by eleventh ranked Tornado KM (2-7) 96-70 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Tornado KM. Silutes SM was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tornado KM dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Silutes SM's 38. The best player for the winners was point guard Gytis Macionis (192-1) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. Domantas Butkys chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Tornado KM players scored in double figures. Tornado KM's coach Andrius Macijauskas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Dovydas Rimkus (193-1) who recorded a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!), 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks and Jevgenis Miniotas (183-1) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Tornado KM moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Jonavos. Silutes SM lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. Tornado KM's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Perkunas.
