Regular Season Round 12: Targu Mures - Oradea 45-62

The most important game in the last round took place in Targu Mures between second ranked Sirius TgM (5-3) and fourth ranked Oradea (3-4) on Wednesday night. Sirius TgM was defeated by Oradea at home 45-62. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Sirius TgM. The game was mostly controlled by Oradea. Sirius TgM managed to win fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Sirius TgM to just 7 points in second quarter. Oradea held Sirius TgM to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Oradea looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for point guard Ruxandra Chis (176-93) who led her team to a victory with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Tierney Pfirman (188-94, college: Maryland) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Oradea's coach Mihai Coldea used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Antonia Radu (180-97) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Cristina Badi (179-93) added 8 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Sirius TgM. Oradea moved-up to third place, which they share with Olimpia Brasov. Sirius TgM at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. Oradea is looking forward to face Alexandria (#7) at home in the next round. Sirius TgM will have a break next round.
