The game in Nuernberg supposed to be also quite interesting. Sixth ranked MLP Academics Heidelberg (7-6) played at the court of 7th ranked Nuernberg (6-5). MLP Academics Heidelberg smashed Nuernberg 78-56 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Nuernberg. MLP Academics Heidelberg looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American forward Dan Oppland (203-84, college: Valparaiso) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Shyron Ely (193-87, college: Evansville, agency: Slash Sports) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Jackson Kent (201-93, college: JMU) responded with 11 points and center Robert Oehle (209-88) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. MLP Academics Heidelberg moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rostock and Ehingen. Loser Nuernberg keeps the seventh position with five games lost. MLP Academics Heidelberg will meet Walter Tigers (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nuernberg will play against Baunach and hope to secure a win.
